I read somewhere that “losing
weight is a simple concept.” Once I
calmed down and stopped cursing the skinny person that obviously thought this
brilliant idea up, I realized, that technically, it is a simple CONCEPT:
Calories in versus calories out. Burn more calories than you take in. Supply and demand. *Sigh* If only it was that easy! What the person hadn’t taken into consideration was that emotions, stress, family, boredom, lack of knowledge, bad habits, willpower and much more all contribute to whether you will be able to lose the weight. Not to mention, once you’ve lost it, now you have to maintain that loss. However, it’s not all bad news: ABC news wrote this article about losing weight and keeping it off. Apparently it is possible with a lot of hard work and determination and no vacu-pants needed (you have to read the article).

After a weekend of really planning my meals, logging
everything before I ate it and more
willpower than I thought I had, I can see this attempt lasting longer than my
last few. It helps that a couple of my
friends are on board and my competitive streak has been unleashed! I also really want to be able to buy an outfit
(or a few) when I go shopping in 73 days and I won’t buy clothes at the size I
am now. Well, nothing that isn’t yoga
pants/capris.
I have my meals planned for the week. I just spent the morning making my soup for
lunches and muffins for (mainly the kids) snacks. At Costco yesterday, I got these really good
sunflower seed snacks called Somersaults. They are great, but too filling to possibly
eat the entire bag which is the kind of snack I need.
I have my exercise planned for the week. Over and above the many classes I teach, I
will be attempting swimming (went twice last week!), doing some weights,
and taking on the stair climbers for the second time.
I am ready!
Keep it up you are keeping me motivated too!
