One of our members was thinking about trying a cyclefit
class. She has done fantastic since
about November of last year, losing over 40 pounds so far by exercising most
days of the week and eating healthy (hmmm, sounds like something I should try….).
I was attempting to convince her that her
body needed to try new things so it didn’t plateau and that cyclefit is
fun. My way to do that was to tell her
that I would go to a Zumba class if she went to a cyclefit class. What was I thinking? She has since gone to six classes! So, I guess it’s time for me to suck it up and
go to Zumba. It’s not that I have
anything against Zumba. It looks really
fun and I love dancing and loud music. It’s
just my coordination is best kept behind closed doors. Preferably mine. At home. With no one around. Alas, I have planned to go tomorrow
night. I even have other staff in so I can’t
make an excuse that I need to check upstairs and leave early. The only benefit is that we also have a
Mother/Daughter challenge starting tomorrow and unbeknownst to them, (they aren’t
reading this I bet) they will be going to Zumba too, so hopefully I won’t be
the only one who doesn’t know all of the moves.
I will be the one in the back corner under the overhang so no one can
see me from upstairs. I don’t want
anyone laughing and falling off a treadmill.
As for how I am doing so far this month, it’s not apparent
to anyone else yet, but I can tell I am changing shape, for the better. As I mentioned, some of my clothes fit
better. I notice that more each
day. Also, I can stretch further and
easier in the past month than in the past few years. This is great because it’s easier to keep
eating healthy once I notice the differences.
It’s nowhere near 40+ pounds. It’s actually only a few pounds on the scale
since January, but it’s a start.
