Drink Your Breakfast

One of the girls I see daily at the Y said she can’t eat breakfast because it makes her feel nauseous.  I replied that breakfast is a must, especially if you will be exercising.  You need fuel to exercise properly not to mention that you don’t want to pass out or feel lightheaded.  If you aren’t hungry in the morning, try something small an hour after you get up or take it with you in the car.  Another option would be to drink your breakfast.
I googled smoothies and picked a few that appealed to me.  Watch the added sugar in smoothies.  Most times it won’t be necessary or at least halve it if you think some is needed.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie (makes 2)

  • 1 1/2 cups vanilla yogurt
  • 2 bananas, cut up
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons wheat germ
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie (makes 2)

  • 2 bananas, broken into chunks
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey, or to taste
  • 2 cups ice cubes

Mixed Berry Smoothie

  • 1 cup mixed berry Juice
  • 1 cup vanilla low-fat yogurt
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries

Protein Shake

·         3/4 cup dry oats

·         2 scoops protein powder

·         1.5 cups of berries

·         12 oz water or almond milk

Any Smoothie

·         Fruit

·         Milk or yogurt

·         Ice optional

Mix ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.  Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!!
